David has worked in all aspects of the commercial real estate industry, selling and leasing virtually all property types. The diversity required to be a “generalist” has been both challenging and exciting. He has 42 years of experience and expertise selling commercial land (acreage and lots), buildings, condos, medical facilities, shopping centers and income properties.
Background & Experience
David moved to Hilton Head Island in 1965 and has been active in the commercial real estate market since 1974. He started at the Sea Pines Company then established Hilton Head’s first independent commercial real estate company in 1976. In the early years he managed and developed shopping centers and established a chain of retail stores. In 1987 he cofounded Charter I Commercial. Since then Charter I Commercial has grown into a diversified company with a staff of six people that is now a member of the NAI Global network.

David has also been active in the evolution of Hilton Head Island, not only through his business, but also in his civic involvement and community service. He was active in the Jaycees, serving as president and received the Outstanding Young Man of the Year award. He was a founder of the Hilton Head Celebrity Golf Tournament and served in many capacities for 34 years. He worked with the Heritage Golf Tournament for 16 years. He was Chairman of the Saint Luke’s Church’s Foundation for 6 years. Most recently he was a member of the Hilton Head Island Rewrite Committee that revised the Town of Hilton Head’s Land Management Ordinance and the Circle-2-Circle Committee that recommended future traffic strategies to meet buildout.
